Luci Gosling - Sales Manager

Luci, who has a degree in history from the University of Liverpool, has worked in the picture library industry since 1993. She joined Mary Evans in January 2007 after a stint as manager of the Illustrated London News archive and is involved in all aspects of client-facing activity and marketing from pitching book ideas to social media updates. Despite studying ancient and medieval history, Luci's main areas of historical interest are 20th century - the First World War, illustration, royalty and women's history. She has authored ten books inspired by content in the archive at Mary Evans, regularly writes magazine articles, gives lectures and has even been heard on the radio once or twice. Luci is a keen baker and, being the only member of the team to live north of the river, an equally keen grumbler about her daily commute. But she's been doing it for almost ten years, so she must like it here.

Jessica Talmage - Deputy Picture Research Manager

Jessica started working at Mary Evans when our images were sent out mounted on blue card, retrieved from filing cabinets labelled Boating/Recreational or Fruit with People/Grapes. She still thoroughly enjoys the quirky nature of the library, and finds daily comfort in being surrounded by Edison phonographs, 1911 coronation mugs, and small models of the Loch Ness Monster. Jess writes some, designs some, and tries not to forget all of her History of Art degree. She also sings in an a cappella group, and is occasionally found treading the boards in panto.

Tom Gillmor - Head of Content

Tom joined Mary Evans almost 18 years ago, soon after graduating from Durham University with a degree in Archaeology and Anthropology. Working initially as an energetic picture researcher, he moved into the role of Head of Content in 2005. He is currently responsible for 350+ contributor collections, managing the digitisation and metadata teams and looking after the archive. Tom is the best point of contact for any individual or institution looking to place imagery with us. He attends the annual CEPIC Congress and helps develop our network of global partner agencies and international image collections. A keen graphic designer, Tom designs our annual calendar and developed a range of promotional 'Little Books'. Anyone wanting to arrange a work placement at the library should contact Tom. He is a keen cricketer, drummer in a rock band, record collector and supporter of Reading Football Club.

Paul Brown - Managing Director

Paul is a relative newbie at Mary Evans having only joined ten years ago. Working at Rex Features for twenty-six years, he gained an excellent overview of the industry from both the large agency and small specialist perspectives through the specialist stock library he set up for Rex. He sat on the Board of BAPLA for thirty years, during which time he served as Chairman for six and was involved in many issues including copyright, metadata, key-wording and industry standards. For eighteen years he represented BAPLA on the CEPIC Board and also served as CEPIC President for a year. Paul continues to work on behalf of BAPLA on a number of industry committees in the UK, including representing BAPLA at the Copyright Hub. At Mary Evans though, Paul truly feels he has found the perfect home. In his spare time he enjoys traveling and this allows him to indulge his other passion of photography.
